“The Angry Birds Movie” trailer boasts all-star voice cast
When was the last time you used your finger to pull back a little slingshot and launch a colorful digital bird at a bunch of green pigs and wooden blocks?

We’ll get a better idea of how closely The Angry Birds Movie resembles the games it’s based on when it hits theaters in May of next year. Sure, you can argue that the originality comes from it being Angry Birds. The furious fowl also count Maya Rudolph (Matilda, the white one), Peter Dinklage (the Mighty Eagle), Kate McKinnon (unknown, but we’re guessing Stella), Tony Hale (unknown) and Keegan-Michael Key (unknown) among their numbers.
Jason Sudeikis leads the voice cast as the quick-tempered Red, Danny McBride is Bomb (who suffers from “IED: intermittent explosive disorder”) and Gad voices the “speed demon bird” Chuck.
Despite being a full-length trailer, there’s not much to know about the story of The Angry Birds Movie yet. The preview also shows the game’s antagonists the Green Pigs invading the birds’ island home.
The film’s premise has the naive and surprisingly mellow birds living in peaceful climes – the perma-fiery Red (Jason Sudeikis) aside.
Angry Birds obviously doesn’t have that problem.
Directed by Clay Kaytis and Fergal Reilly, the film has been produced by John Cohen and Catherine Winder. We do get a hint at the main villain, played by Bill Hader, as he voices a pig named Leonard.
The trailer opens to a secluded island paradise populated by flightless birds.
