The Beatles’ back catalogue to be up for streaming
“It’s a big PR catch as it helps communicate that the platforms are “all the music in the world” – which is the value proposition of streaming services”.

The announcement comes just 5 years after the British group’s back catalog was first made available for purchase on Apple’s iTunes.
Merry Christmas Beatles’ fans – you will soon be able to stream the Fab Four’s music.
Not all streaming services will get to play, however – Pandora is notably absent from the nine participating online services, which also includes Apple, Slacker and Spotify, Google and Amazon.
On Dec. 24, at 12:01 a.m., the greatest catalog of music in rock history – The Beatles – will finally make the leap into the digital world. Re/code later reported that the music would be available on all major streaming services.
Despite not appearing on streaming services, Adele’s “25” is still selling incredibly well, coming in ahead of artists such as Justin Bieber whose works are available to stream.
As part of Google Play’s “welcome party” for the Beatles, you can tell your Google app, “Ok Google, play the Beatles”, and something magical will happen. “Watch as the music spreads around the globe on Christmas Eve”, the band’s site indicated, encouraging fans to use the hashtag #TheBeatlesStreaming on social media platforms. This step by the steaming services is expected to churn out better revenues for companies like Spotify and Apple Music.
Since revenue from streaming now exceeding downloads, the Beatles couldn’t ignore the tide change if they wanted to distribute their music.
