The Best Dressed Stars At The 2016 Emmy Awards

The former GOP presidential hopeful appeared in the opening sketch as a limo driver who offered Kimmel a ride to the show. And during his monologue, Kimmel referenced Trump, specifically pointing out the man in the audience who made him a television star.

“If Donald Trump gets elected and he builds that wall, the first person we are throwing over it is Mark Burnett”, Kimmel said, setting the political tone of the show 50 days before America elects its next president.

Burnett cast Trump in “The Apprentice”, the hit series that gave him a larger public profile.

Kimmel was as surprised as we were to see Bush, who explained that he was “in between jobs right now” and making $12 an hour driving for Uber.

Yet it wasn’t all about the Americans, as British actress Dame Maggie Smith won the award for Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Drama Series for her iconic role in Downton Abbey. “I think that Veep has torn down the wall between comedy and politics”, she said.

Bush asked Kimmel if he was a nominee, and when Kimmel said yes, Bush said, “Wow, what’s that like?'”

Best comedy series writing victor Aziz Ansari, said he ‘wanted everyone to know, after careful consideration, I Am going with Trump, ‘ demanding they remove all Muslim and Hispanic nominees from the Emmy ceremony which he said would make things so much easier ‘like the Oscars’.

Aziz Ansari, who won the Emmy for outstanding writing for a comedy series for his Netflix show Master of None, celebrated by sarcastically endorsing Trump for president when he presented an award later in the show. “This is other-izing with a capital O. He needs to be called out every chance we get for being one of most risky monsters to ever approach our lifetimes”, Soloway said. “I was talking to Melania Trump this morning, I was asking her what should I do, what should I say”, he joked.

During its second season “Transparent” related the current state of transgender people to the situation facing Jews in Nazi Germany before the Holocaust.
