‘The Big Short’ Trailer: Christian Bale, Brad Pitt, Ryan Gosling, and Steve

Trading juvenile laughs for adult-minded drama, “The Big Short” could be a huge breakthrough for McKay, and he’s luckily got Christian Bale, Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling and Brad Pitt to help guide him. Karen Gillan, Rafe Spall and Selena Gomez are other big names on show.

The film is based on the non-fiction book by author and financial journalist Michael Lewis.

Paramount has separately slotted for December 30 limited release the Charlie Kaufman/Duke Johnson-directed stop motion animation film Anomalisa, which the studio acquired about a week ago at the Toronto Film Festival.

The Big Short tells the story of a group of four outsiders who saw the 2008 crash coming, and when they bet against it, they won. According to the official description, “their bold investment [the plan itself is called “The Big Short”] leads them into the dark underbelly of modern banking where they must question everyone and everything”. Not only that, but the film will see its world premiere as the closing night selection of November’s AFI Fest in Los Angeles.

The Big Short will debut in United States cinemas on December 11, and opens on January 22, 2016 in the UK.

The Big Short hits theaters on Christmas Day.
