The new BMW 8 Series will have a technological flagship with driveline components.
The electrical system and connectivity solutions will resemble those in the sixth-generation 7 Series.
Harald Krueger, chairman of the BMW Group, is reportedly keen for the brand to expand its lineup with more high-end luxury models where profit margins are exceptionally robust.
Where the German luxury marques normally compete in every segment, BMW and Audi have abstained for quite some time. An alternative layout calls for a more classic two-door coupe and cabriolet pairing. The layout of the 8 Series will be finalized by BMW in 2018 and a concept will be showcased the same year.

It’s presumed (or at least hoped on BMW’s account) that more forms of the 7 Series will increase category sales. In 2010 there were rumors of the return of the Series 8 but were laid to rest by 2013.
