The BMW M5 Competition Edition Is A 592bhp Swansong
A new BMW M5 Competition Edition special has been revealed this week, likely representing the last offering in the powerful sedan’s current generation. A total of 200 units will be built, 100 in white and 100 in black.

Only a handful of Competition Editions will be coming to the UK. This is thanks to more boost courtesy of a recalibrated ECU. That 592bhp figure is 40bhp up on the standard M5 and 25bhp up on the previous M5 Competition Pack.
The extra power makes the executive super-saloon capable of an even more lively 0-62mph time of 3.9 seconds – matching the four-wheel drive Audi RS6 Avant.
It’s available in two colours, so how would you spec yours: Mineral White, or Carbon Black?
Six-piston caliper brakes are mounted within 20-inch M double-spoke 601M light alloys, finished in high gloss Jet Black.
The interior of the M5 Pure Metal Silver Limited Edition also gets a few unique touches, including Merino leather and aluminum trim accents.
The M Dynamic mode of the dynamic stability control system has also been tweaked towards the sportier end of the spectrum, making the Competition Edition M5 distinctly more track-focused in this mode while retaining everyday drivability in the lower modes.
The power upgrades mean that the new vehicle will hit 62mph from standstill in 3.9sec, but the top speed remains electronically limited to 155mph. Electric sunblinds and an electric tailgate complete the additions. Black wheels aside, the M5 Competition Edition is identifiable by its carbon fibre BMW M Performance Parts (rear spoiler, rear diffuser and mirror caps) and a black kidney grille. The cars have been lowered by 10mm, while stiffened springs and dampers. plus thicker anti-roll bars, are drafted in to improve agility.

In Germany, the auto retails for 129,500 euros, some 25,200 euros more than the regular M5.
