The Breadwinner: Angelina Jolie signs on as executive producer for Irish

The film will tell the tale of a girl named Parvana who has to provide for her family in Afganistan under a Taliban regime. A version will be made in the Dari language as well as English.

Ms Jolie said millions of young girls like Parvana are growing up today under oppression or conflict, and helping their families to survive in those conditions.

Then movieis now casting and in pre-production and is due for completion in early 2017.

The young adult novel “The Breadwinner” published by Groundwood Books, has been in print for more than 11 years and is a recommended reading text for numerous schools throughout Canada, the United States and Europe.

Angelina Jolie Pitt and her Jolie Pas Productions have teamed up with Aircraft Pictures (Toronto), Cartoon Saloon (Ireland) and Melusine Productions (Luxembourg) to executive produce a new animated feature, The Breadwinner.

“All of us at Cartoon Saloon are delighted that she has joined The Breadwinner“.

The film is an adapatation of the novel written by Deborah Ellis of the same title and is set to be directed by Nora Twomey, while the screen story has been written by the author the screenplay will be written by Anita Doron, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Jolie will donate any profits derived from her role as executive producer to the education of Afghan girls. She recently directed Universals ‘Unbroken, based on the life of Olympian and World War II POW survivor Louis Zamperini.

The Cartoon Saloon team in Kilkenny are already working on animation for the film but the question is will Angelina Jolie herself come to Ireland to play one of the characters.
