With Ted Cruz emerging as a threat in Donald Trump’s path to the Republican presidential nomination, the real estate mogul has looked to blunt Cruz’s momentum by questioning his eligibility to run for president because he was not born in the United States. The event is titled “The State of Our Union Town Hall with Ted Cruz”, so Cruz will presumably be giving his own picture of the United States’ health and direction.

Republican rivals have condemned those remarks as inflammatory, but they have not dented Trump’s popularity among Republican voters, who are overwhelmingly white.
Cruz will watch Obama’s speech, though, and be available to give a response, Frazier added. At a rally in New Hampshire Monday, Trump brought up the issue again. Donald Trump, fighting Cruz for primacy in the Iowa caucuses, keeps pointing that out, noting that Harvard’s Laurence Tribe also says the question is unsettled. “He’s delegitimized them, he’s humiliated them, and I think that opens a space for someone else… it’s not so much Trump per se”.

Legal experts have said Cruz is a natural-born citizen because his mother was an American citizen when he was born in Canada, but the issue has never been settled by the federal courts. “I don’t know which populist will be effected, but we need change and I think Trump has that ability”. In an interview with TIME magazine released January 11, Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus refused to defend Cruz when asked about his eligibility.
In 2008, the Senate passed a resolution declaring Senator John McCain, a Republican presidential candidate, a natural born citizen. Others who have spoken include Marco Rubio, Jeb Bush and Chris Christie. By September, Trump was convinced Cruz was in the clear.
The poll also found that Cruz has a 75 – 17 percent favorability rating among Iowans with Trump at 61 – 34 percent.

Other white supremacist leaders said that while many of their supporters supported Trump, they did not plan to formally campaign on his behalf.
