TheWrap reports Fox and Chernin Entertainment are developing a movie based on “Fear Street”, the long-running series of horror books aimed at teenage readers. This might explain why today brought news that Stine’s Fear Street series, which focused more on teenagers than Goosebumps, is being developed into a major motion picture of it’s very own.
Asked about the project by TheWrap, Stein recently confirmed that a movie was in the works, though he declined to provide any further details.
Fear Street takes place in the fictional city of Shadyside, Ohio, and usually follow a murder mystery style plot, though they sometimes diverge into the more supernatural realm of Stine’s Goosebumps series. The series was basically the same as the Goosebumps books, but they were targeted for an older, teen crowd with older protagonists and more adult subject matter.
