The cast for female-led Ocean’s Eight has been finalized
Sandra Bullock was the first name attached to the project, and we later learned that she would be playing Danny Ocean’s sister, who also happens to be a charming ex-con just like her brother. If they start production in October, they don’t have much time left to pick No. 8. The full list so far consist of Bullock, Blanchett, Hathaway, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling, and rapper/comedienne Awkwafina.

Deadline has learned that Oscar victor Anne Hathaway, singer and occasional actress Rihanna, and Asian-American rapper Awkwafina have been added to the Ocean’s Eight cast.
The film will be known as Ocean’s Eight, which means that one lead actor is still to be cast. Both Jennifer Lawrence and Elizabeth Banks were previously rumoured to be in consideration for the movie.
Between her casting in Luc Besson’s sci-fi adventure Valerian and her upcoming stint on Bates Motel, Rihanna’s EGOT era is upon us.
Warner Bros has firmed an October start date in NY for Ocean’s Eight, the female-driven caper spinoff directed by Gary Ross, and the studio is closing with its principal cast.
Awkwafina recently made her feature debut in Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising and has also wrapped Milch’s directorial debut Dude. Steven Soderbergh, who directed all three films in the Ocean’s trilogy, will produce Ocean’s Eight.
For now, the estrogen-imbued reinvention of the stylish heist film franchise Ocean’s 8, is still closing in on its eighth. ‘ all-new, all-female Ocean’s Eleven reboot.
