The Clinton Transition Team Takes Shape
The Clinton-Kaine Transition Project, headed by the former Interior Secretary Ken Salazar, has been tasked to ensure “smooth transition of power” including identifying key senior position in the new administration if Clinton and her running mate Tim Kaine win the November 8 general elections, a media release by Clinton campaign said.

The transition team will oversee planning for a potential Clinton administration should the Democratic nominee win in November.
Heather Boushey, the executive director of the Washington Center for Equitable Growth, will be the chief economist, the campaign said in a statement. The law empowers the GSA to offer office space and other resources including early security clearances beginning after the parties’ conventions to the Democratic and Republican nominees and to any other candidate who reaches qualifications similar to those for presidential debates.
The Clinton-Kaine Transition Project was officially established through the filing of paperwork two weeks ago with Podesta named as the entity’s president and Hillary for America senior adviser Minyon Moore as Secretary. Williams also served as chief of staff to Clinton when she was first lady.
It is customary for both candidates to announce transition committees before the general election: Republican Donald Trump tapped New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie to lead his transition efforts in May.
Two of Clinton’s policy advisers, Ann O’Leary and Ed Meier, will also move to the transition team on a full-time basis.
Transition teams are the bridge between presidential campaigns and the White House, a time where thousands of jobs need to be filled and decisions will be made that will impact the first four years of an administration. Tanden, for example, is a longtime Clinton confidante, and Boushey has advised the campaign on economic policy.
Clinton leads Trump by an average of 6.8 percentage points in national polls, RealClearPolitics said Tuesday. Last week, he suggested gun rights activists could take action against Clinton, a statement critics found alarming but which he later said was aimed at rallying votes against her.

Despite Clinton’s lead in polls, Obama warned Democrats against overconfidence, telling a fundraising gathering on Monday in Massachusetts, “If we are not running scared until the day after the election, we are going to be making a grave mistake”.
