‘The Commish’ Star Theresa Saldana Dead at 61

She had been hospitalized at Cedars-Sinai but no cause of death has been given.

On March 15, 1982, Saldana was the stalking victim of Arthur Richard Jackson, a 46-year-old drifter from Aberdeen, Scotland. Her death was first reported by TMZ.

The US actress retired in 2004, more than two decades after she was the victim of a murder attempt by an obsessed fan.

Saldana played herself in a TV movie based on the incident, and she went on to found the organization Victims for Victims.

The actress also starred alongside Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci in “Raging Bull” but stopped acting in 2004.

The Los Angeles Times reports that actress Theresa Saldana, known for movies including “Raging Bull” and “I Wanna Hold Your Hand”, and her Golden Globe-nominated work on TV’s “The Commish”, has died after an illness, according to a family member. She also published a memoir, “Beyond Survival”, in 1987. “Hooker”, “Cagney & Lacey” and “Simon & Simon”. “My family and I extend our love, condolences & support to her family in their time of grieving”, Chiklis said via his Twitter account. Jackson had stalked Saldana for weeks leading up to the knife attack at her West Hollywood home. She played the supportive wife of the title character, a tough-but-kind NY police commissioner.

The attack was so aggressive that Jackson’s blade was bent. She had an extensive television resume that included appearances on the likes of All My Children, Law & Order, The Twilight Zone and MacGyver.

Saldana is survived by her husband, Phil Peters, and a daughter.
