The Cowboys Aren’t Placing Tony Romo On Injured Reserve Just Yet
Initial reports are rumored for Romo to return anytime in the next 6-10 weeks.

As a member of the St. Louis Rams in 2014, he appeared in 10 games and started eight of them after Sam Bradford went down with a season-ending ACL injury. Dallas is on bye Week Seven, meaning he’d only have to miss seven games.
Back to the team aspect, just a week ago the team and fans were beaming with confidence after rookie quarterback Dak Prescott posted the highest preseason overall quarterback rating in more than two decades.
“We’ve got a lot of energy here”, Jones said Tuesday on his radio show. Whatever we do with him, he’ll need to be on our 53 when we cut it on Friday. You’ve got to have him through the 53-cut before you put him on designated return, if we wanted to consider that. “We look forward to winning some football games as we move forward and when Tony gets back the team will be ready for him”.
Though the Cowboys have not ruled Romo out for their regular season opener next Sunday, it is very unlikely that he will be playing.

If this is it for Romo, hopefully the team can finish this season in storybook like fashion and win a ring for him. The good news is he believes the Cowboys should be just fine in Romo’s absence. Dak Prescott will undoubtedly be on the active roster, but Tony Romo may not. Multiple sources say the time frame for Romo to return from his L1 compression fracture is precariously close to the length of time he’d be sidelined if placed on injured reserve/designated for return. I think this was s a freak accident. It was awkward. I think most doctors would tell you that whoever that would have been would have had a hard time coming through that without some sort of injury. Three plays into last weeks game against Seattle, now the Cowboys have a nightmare on their hands and a decision on Romo’s future looms large in the not-so-distant future.
