After Siemian’s rookie season ended with zero throws, most would have envisioned a career as a back-up.

He started the last two games, directing a touchdown drive in each contest during three and a half quarters of work. Sanchez hasn’t played under Gary Kubiak besides training camp and preseason games, but if he isn’t that expensive by the end of this process, it’s worth holding on to him.
The Broncos expected Sanchez to waltz in and hold down the starting job until rookie Paxton Lynch was ready to seize the reigns at quarterback. They know who their quarterback of the near future will be.
He played collegiately at Northwestern and was a seventh round pick by the Broncos previous year.
“The thing about replacing Peyton (Manning) – nobody is going to replace Peyton”, Siemian said, via the Broncos’ team website.
In contrast, the Rams never got through to the Broncos’ quarterbacks. With all the good that the Broncos second-year man has done, he’s also had a few bad decisions that have lead to turnovers.
Sanchez, with $1 million guaranteed on his salary, is probably going to take the cut, although the Broncos still haven’t asked him to alter his contract.

Siemian finished 10-of-17 for 122 yards in Saturday’s 17-9 victory over the Rams.
Siemian’s most impressive throw was a 43-yarder to Demaryius Thomas, who caught it in stride over his outside shoulder as he streaked down the Rams’ sideline in the final minute of the first half.

“I’m impressed. I think he’s very calm”, Kubiak said of Siemian. He seems to have a penchant for turning the ball over-three giveaways in the first two preseason games-which is an obvious problem for a team that wants to win with a steady offense and a smothering defense. The team needs a veteran of some sort to occupy the roster, because Siemian and Lynch are completely inexperienced backups right now.
