THE DESCENDANTS Drives Disney to New Yearly High

In its first encore telecast, “Descendants” (Sat., 11:00 a.m. ET/PT) was the #1 cable TV telecast of the day in Total Viewers (2.9 million) and TV’s #1 telecast among Kids 2-11 (1.5 million/3.7 rating), Kids 6-11 (1.2 million/5.1 rating) and Tweens 9-14 (1.0 million/4.2 rating).
The official word: “Descendants Wicked World“, an animated short-form series set in the Auradon and Isle of the Lost worlds of Disney’s hit movie “Descendants“, is set to premiere FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 18 on Disney Channel and its digital platforms, including WATCH Disney Channel.
Friday’s premiere averaged 6.55 million viewers in live plus same-day estimates, and replays also drew sizable audiences midday Saturday (2.902 million) and Sunday night (3.306 million).
The second encore, which aired at 8PM ET on Sunday night, was even hotter.
It also claimed cable’s #1 position for kids 2-11 (1.5 million), kids 6-11 (1.3 million) and tweens 9-14 (1.2 million). On the WATCH Disney Channel app, “Descendants” has also posted 1.8 million video views since July 24.
Dove Cameron, Sofia Carson, Mitchell Hope, Cameron Boyce, Booboo Stewart, Brenna D’Amico, Sarah Jeffery, and Dianne Doan will all be returning to voice their characters in cartoon form.

The story, from director and choreographer Kenny Ortega of the “High School Musical” franchise, is an original tale featuring reinvented classic Disney characters in a modern story.
