More than 6.4 million players jumped online to download and explore the desolate streets of New York City in The Division beta which makes the largest beta for a new intellectual property on the current generation platforms.
The beta ran from Thursday, February 18 on Xbox One, and Friday, February 19 on PS4 and PC, with the average person playing for 4 hours and 52 minutes. In a statement today, Ubisoft said that gamers spent about 2 hours in the PVP zone in particular, and that almost half of in-game agents ended up turning Rogue. Fun fact: over 63 309 800 contaminated items were successfully extracted out of the Dark Zone.
Magnus Jansen, a creative director, working on the title, states, “We want to thank the millions of people who joined in on The Division’s Open Beta”. The beta had an unprecedented amount of players, giving some credibility to Ubisoft’s belief that The Division will have one of the biggest game launches in the game industry’s history.
The Dark Zone concept, which is integrated seamlessly with the rest of the game world, a take on modern world Manhattan, might also become something that’s part of more Ubisoft video games.
The Division hasn’t disappointed so far and we are looking forward to picking it up in a few weeks, are you?

The full game is due for release March 8 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The Division has already been through a closed and open beta, both were put to the test by countless players, and majority came back impressed.
