The Duchess of Cambridge takes the casual route in Assam

During a safari in the Kaziranga National Park in Assam to see work to save endangered one-horned rhinos, Kate wore her most casual look of the tour so far.

A recent census estimated there were 2,400 one-horned rhinos, now listed as “vulnerable” by conservation groups, in Kaziranga out of a global population of 3,300.

Watching the traditional dance performance the Duchess said the little girls reminded her of 11-month-old Princess Charlotte Mail Online reports.

Earlier in the day, William and Kate had gone on a two-hour jeep safari ride into the heart of the Kaziranga National Park, which is more than 170 square miles in size and has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. “We said, “How do you lose all the weight after having two kids?’ And she said, ‘I am running after my kids, ‘” fellow guest Prof BulBul Dhar-James revealed to reporters after he spoke with the Duchess at the party”.

The royal couple will next head to Bhutan, and then back to India to visit the Taj Mahal, where Prince William’s mother visited on a royal trip in 1992.

Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge, neé Kate Middleton, are on the last day of their tour of India before they set off for Bhutan on Thursday. Kate and William were thrilled to be given the opportunity to get hands-on experience with vulnerable animals who are recovering at a sanctuary after being injured, displaced or orphaned in the wild.

After the ceremony, the Duke and Duchess made their way to Gandhi Smriti, a museum where Mahatma Gandhi spent the final years of his life. Kaziranga is facing the problem of rhino poaching for the past few years.

Conservationist Rita Banerji, who met them at the park, said: “They had a lot of questions about the wildlife situation in the country”.
