The first teaser for Christopher Nolan’s World War II epic washed up on the shores of the internet on Thursday afternoon – and boy does it look lovely.
It’ll be nice to have Nolan “back”, as he has spent the past decade making the Dark Knight trilogy, as well as heady sci-fi movies like Inception and Interstellar. Our first look at the film is this unbelievably gorgeous new teaser, which already could make it one of the most anticipated films of 2017. It centers on the evacuation of the city of Dunkirk in 1940.
The large scale film will be shot on a combination of IMAX 65mm and 65mm large format film photography for maximum image quality and high impact immersion.
Of course, as time goes on and the marketing campaign ramps up, we’ll get mentions and looks at the leading actors (who aren’t even highlighted in this trailer!), but that can wait.

Dunkirk, which is being written and directed by Nolan, will star Cillian Muprhy, Todd Hardy and academy-award victor Mark Rylance. Pictures has released the Dunkirk announcement teaser online! However, Nolan’s next film, Dunkirk, has something that none of his other movies have had: One Direction heartthrob Harry Styles.
