A source close to the Department of Children and Family Services told NBC News there is an investigation following a report of alleged abuse involving Pitt.

A spokesman for LA County Children and Family Services, Armand Montiel, added that “DCFS is not allowed to confirm or deny any subject of allegations”. The publication later cited a source saying that Pitt “did not hit” his child during a verbal altercation with Jolie that turned into a “parent-child argument which was not handled in the right way and escalated more than it should have”.

The incident reportedly took place on September 14, days before partner Angelina Jolie filed for divorce.

People.com reports that Pitt is accused of getting verbally abusive with one of couple’s kids, as well as getting physical while the family was on their private plane.

“There’s no incident whatsoever reported to law enforcement”, Hedlund said. They married privately at their French chateau in the Provence hamlet of Correns with their children serving as ring bearers and throwing flower petals. In their years together, they have parented six children Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 8.

A staunch friend of Jennifer Aniston, Handler has also previously labelled Jolie a “homewrecker” and a “demon”.

In 2006, they formed the Jolie-Pitt Foundation, to which they funneled numerous millions they made selling personal pictures to celebrity magazines. The allegations were first made public by a source of TMZ, who said Pitt yelled at and was “physical” with his children during a flight from France back to the US. Both actors have, in separate statements, said their primary concern was their children and asked for privacy.
