The Ferrari FF Is Dead: Say Hello To The New GTC4Lusso

As for the GTC4Lusso, apparently the name was inspired by famous old Ferraris such as the 330 GTC, 330 GT and 250 GT Berlinetta Lusso.

By rolling out a souped-up four-seater rather than a traditional two-seat sports auto, Ferrari is showing that it plans to broaden its appeal while not scrimping on performance.

The GTC4 Lusso is actually a refreshed version of the company’s current FF grand touring shooting brake which debuted in 2011.

As FFs age and their mileages grow, and as the GTC4Lusso establishes itself, such savings may become more commonplace, making the FF possibly the bargain Ferrari of the future.

The FF was always a bit unconventional for Ferrari.

To go with the extra power, Ferrari has fitted the GTC4 with rear-wheel steering to go with its four-wheel drive and slip slide control which helps the GTC4 get its power down and respond even in slippery conditions.

Under the body of the Ferrari GTC4 Lusso is a 680-horsepower V12 engine. Forget the Ferrari FF, it’s called the GTC4 Lusso now. The 6.3-liter V12 produces 681 horsepower now instead of “just” 651, torque is up to 514 pound-feet and Ferrari also jammed the bonkers F12tdf’s four-wheel steering under the floor to make the new Lusso more capable than you’ll ever need it to be.

These changes have allowed the new Ferrari GTC4Lusso’s drag coefficient to be significantly lower than on the FF, without giving any more details.

Inside, the GTC4’s handcrafted interiors keeps the FF’s rich leather-lined appointment, but will gain a new steering wheel design as well as a 10.25 inch high definition touchscreen display.
