The Final Girls Found in an Official Trailer
The Final Girls had its world premiere on opening night of SxSW in March, and was nominated for an Audience Award at the film festival. I don’t know which way “The Final Girls” will land, but the talent involved certainly has me excited.

No more pictures! Time to get a look at The Final Girls (review) in motion!
Part-Last Action, part-The Cabin in the Woods, The Final Girls sees Max (Taissa Farmiga) and her group of friends transported inside a schlocky 1980s slasher flick – a movie that just so happens to star Max’s recently deceased mother (played by Malin Akerman, Watchmen).
While this concept lends itself easily to comedy, there’s a really sweet mother / daughter story at the heart of the film, which also has a little fun playing with sexist stereotypes in classic horror. They soon realize they’re trapped inside the movie and must team up with the horny, regan-era idiot “Camp Bloodbath” counselors – including Max’s mom as the shy scream queen – to battle the film’s machete-wielding killer, Billy Murphy.

Along with Farmiga and Akerman, the film stars Vampire Diaries actress Nina Dobrev, Vikings actor Alexander Ludwig, Arrested Development actress Alia Shawkat, Silicon Valley actor Thomas Middleditch, and Pitch Perfect’s Adam Devine.
