‘The Flash’: Danielle Panabaker Talks Killer Frost, Deathstorm & Zoom

Tonight’s episode is filled with a bunch of Easter Eggs and references to DC Comics characters. Barry insists that they are still his family and they need him. Watch that first or read our recap and then come back here so we can geek out together! They bump into the doppelgangers of villains from their that are just ordinary people here, such as Henry Hewitt, Deadshot (Michael Rowe) and a very off putting mention of a Mayor Snart. Originally created by Gerry Conway and Al Milgrom, the first Killer Frost appeared in 1978’s “Firestorm #3” as Crystal Frost. While there, we see a different, nerdy Barry; a Joe who’s a jazz singer; a frosty villainous Caitlin who has a very different Ronnie at her side; and a much more self-assured, bolder Iris who has a special place in her heart or a certain Mr. Allen.

Which begs the question, did it succeed in it’s execution. I wish I knew if it was Leonard, Lisa, or Lewis. While checking out their house, Barry gets an emotional call from his mother, who isn’t dead on Earth-2.

Okay cool. Now for fun.

But lets not get caught up in these details. Barry grabs a hold of Wells and Cisco and they take off. As they travel through the breach you can see a glimpse of Supergirl hinting to a possible crossover.

Which other Easter eggs did you notice?

At S.T.A.R. Labs, Jay lectures Barry and Cisco that everything they see will be weird and wrong, they should not get personally involved.

According to Todd, “Barry, Cisco and Wells go over to Earth-2 with a definitive plan that goes awry”.

Knowing it was her alter ego in the comics, fans have been excited to see Killer Frost since The Flash began – a sentiment shared by Danielle Panabaker (check out our new video interview with her above). Chalk it up to budgetary restraints maybe, but boy does it seem like a waste of what could have easily been a fun design idea. If Barry and Cisco want to rescue Wells’ daughter from the enigmatic big bad’s clutches, then they’re going to have to come face to face with the monster himself, and Killer Frost just might be the girl to lead them there. “It’s the best feeling in the world”.

I think they closed the portal location that sent Grodd to Earth-2. “From Joe’s point of view, he’s pretty selfish, and I think that plays into what happens to him in the next episode”. She’s cold (pun intended), ruthless and loyal to (or at least suitably afraid of) Zoom, for whom she and her partner, Deathstorm, are working. But there’s also the opportunity for viewers to see their favorite characters…with a twist.

That’s a sucker punch of emotion in three little words. But for the goal of where we want to take Cisco, having him die there was the best way to get what we want out of this character. “But I’m really pale, so if you white-out my lips, you can’t see anything”. Killer Frost; a meta-human doppelganger of Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker) with some unique frost abilities, and Deathstorm, the doppelganger of Ronnie Raymond (Robbie Amell).

Kudos to Carlos Valdes who once again proves to be a secret weapon on the show. Remember? “You just get back to your baby girl, John”. I completely understand Cisco.

After seeing what Reverb can do, will Cisco try to learn more about his powers despite Reverb’s death? This, more than anything, is the beginning to what is hopefully an exciting new storyline for Cisco if he’s given the chance to develop skills that go beyond what’s been able to do thus far. Though Barry stops them temporarily, Joe winds up in the hospital after Deathstorm attacks him. That’s why he never wanted Barry to find out about the serum.
