The blockbuster broke records for biggest box office draw on an opening weekend in both the US and globally.

Star Wars also beat Jurassic World in America – 248 million dollars (£166 million) compared with the dinosaur movie’s 208.8 million dollars (£140.2 million) this summer. When Friday numbers were tallied, the official first-day total was an estimated $120.5 million. Internationally, it was the biggest opening weekend ever in numerous territories including the United Kingdom (four-day), Australia, Russia, and Germany.
Ahead of the weekend, those familiar with audience tracking surveys predicted an opening weekend of $180 million to $220 million.
63% – Percentage of this weekend’s audience who were over the age of 25. Despite the dissent of many enraged Star Wars fans nitpicking every single action of every single scene of the film (just read the negative reviews on Metacritic), the latest episode is wonderful. This occurred in the ArcLight theater in Hollywood, one of the hundreds of theaters where the long-awaited film was finally played.
That film had the advantage of opening in China on the same weekend it opened everywhere else. Disney has literally turned into the Scrooge McDuck money vault with the launch of this new franchise. It’s been inextricably linked to “Star Wars” since 1977, when Kenner sold empty boxes at the holidays because it couldn’t keep up with demand for action figures.
In the 30 days leading up to the premiere of Force Awakens, more than 53 million people had 126 million interactions on Facebook about the film. Neither, however, could come close to the film starring Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Daisy Ridley among others. However, some Star Wars fans were anxious when they almost saw the end of the film before viewing it, due to a malfunctioning projector.

Part of the reason is because the available pirated copy of Star Wars was allegedly captured by a shaky handheld camera, which hardly does justice to a visually stunning movie that can only be appreciated in theaters.
