The Force is with this 3-minute Rogue One

The Clone Wars animated movie was the first Star Wars movie in theaters to not feature an opening crawl.

Curiously, Rogue One’s origin story goes back to the prequels.

Actress Felicity Jones, as Resistance fighter Jyn Erson, figures heavily in the new video and in “Rogue One”, in which rebels are on a mission to steal the plans for the Death Star. The concept for the team was a little different then.

Clocking in with almost three minutes of footage, the new teaser features showcases the work both behind the camera and in front of it that’s going into this year’s Star Wars standalone film. Regardless, for those of you not lucky enough to be in attendance, here’s a quick description (they only showed it once, so it’s not as detailed as I’d have liked).

Gareth did recall the day George Lucas visited him on set though, saying, “I challenge anyone to have a more surreal experience than showing a Star Wars film to George Lucas”.

The Force is with the blockbusting franchise at Star Wars Celebration, a big event for Star Wars fans taking place all weekend in the capital. “Everywhere is an unbelievable shot with fantastic characters”. “And so the honest answer is you’ll have to wait and see”.

The Rogue One director also took sound designer Matt Wood from Skywalker Sound into the studio – and said that they shared a fan moment when they heard Jones’s booming voice say the word “power”. Here’s hoping the story is just as good.

Walt Disney Co resurrected “Star Wars” with a new generation of characters in December’s box office hit “The Force Awakens”.
