Trump says he has changed his stance on accepting donations as long as they come with “no strings attached”.
One day he makes outlandish and offensive comments about the Latino community, deeming them criminals, and another day the country finds out he employs many of these same individuals he chose to publicly disrespect.
Sanders, the leading challenger to Hillary Clinton for the Democratic presidential nomination, has routinely gone after hedge fund managers during his populist campaign.
Donald Trump has touted his independence from political donors lots of times (after all, he’s really rich), but now he’s starting to potentially warm up to the idea. Still, on Sunday, Trump took aim at those who profited from the investment strategy. “They are energetic. They are very smart”. They make a fortune.
“Some of them are friends of mine”. Some of them, I couldn’t care less about. “It’s the wrong thing”. “The hedge fund guys are getting away with murder”, he told CBS News on Sunday. In criticizing the tax that hedge fund managers pay, Trump was referring to what is known as the “carried interest loophole”. They have to pay taxes. “This country doesn’t have, it won’t have a middle class very soon”. Reuters explains that it is the “provision in the tax code which allows private equity and hedge fund managers pay taxes at the capital gains rate instead of the ordinary income rate”.
Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump blasted hedge fund managers on Sunday as mere “paper pushers” who he said were “getting away with murder” by not paying their fair share of taxes.

The rhetorical similarities between Trump and his would-be Democratic rivals have given Jeb Bush an attack opening. “He’s given more money to Democrats than he has to Republicans”.
