The Hunger Games: Mockinjay Part2

As soon as “The Hunger Games” franchise started production, the spunky, straight-talking actor was looking at other acting possibilities. “The plot is minimalist but … the final showdown delivers a hearseload of thrills” so that when the credits finally roll, it’s “a regretful farewell”. This part of the movie set record on box office. That’s fair, but you’re getting my opinion anyway.

Natalie Dormer, who starred as Cressida in the final two films, said at a recent news conference, “I think “the Hunger Games” as a phenomenon has rewritten the rulebook for what can be a commercially viable blockbuster, and it’s long overdue”.

It doesn’t matter if it’s the Oscars or a Hunger Games premiere, there’s a fairly good chance that Jennifer Lawrence will take a tumble when she steps out at a big event.

As someone who read the book series, I was anxious about this last film.

In the final installment in the Hunger Games film series, Katniss Everdeen fights for more than just her sister-she fights for the freedom of her country, Panem that is now ruled by the totalitarian President Snow. With all that I wasn’t sure how I was going to like this movie, but I was surprised, it was entertaining and kept my attention. She is maybe in love with two different guys: Peeta (Josh Hutcherson), who was kidnapped and brainwashed by the Capitol and now hates Katniss, and Gale (Liam Hemsworth), her hunting buddy from her home District. And yet, I find that a part of me is rejoicing at how the movie has made an impact on my generation and how it has contributed to the rise in popularity of young adult books and films. “What we do on every movie is we play these characters and then two months later we never see them again”. Ultimately, Katniss finally gets the ending she deserves and her story, along with those of the other characters we’ve come to love, is faithfully wrapped up in the epilogue. “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2” has a dark undertone and leaves you empty at times as we see the horrors of war and how no one walks away a victor.

At the end of the day, “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2” will satisfy its fans simply because they will be so emotionally invested in saying goodbye to Katniss and the entire series. Everything about this movie is predictable, but it’s gunning for the teenagers, and they’ll eat all this up.

The MPAA gave the film a rating of PG-13 for “intense sequences of violence and action, and for a few thematic material”.

Part 2 is out in theaters, at long last bringing the series to a close. “Twilight” and “Harry Potter” did it, with the latter done much more effectively. “She was complimenting me and I was like, ‘Me?…No, I mean You, ‘” she recalls. In an interview with chat show host Seth Meyers, he quipped: “She’s terrible at walking”.
