The Last of Us 2 is not in development
Several months ago, reports Naugswirled aroundhty Dog’s decision to put on hold “The Last of Us 2” in order to focus more on “Uncharted“. Druckmann and Straley were enlisted to head up Uncharted 4 following the departure of Amy Hennig and Justin Richmond, who left to join Visceral Games and Riot Games respectively. “And [on] the first ‘The Last of Us.’ Uh, did I say the first The Last of Us?”

Now that fans are buzzing over the implications, what does Naughty Dog have to say about the matter?
The Last of Us’ creative director Neil Druckmann said that he and Bruce Straley have brainstormed ideas for a sequel, but nothing concrete is in place just yet.
Last week during a livestream, it seems that one of Naughty Dog’s writers accidentally let slip that the studio was working on a sequel to The Last of Us, which we can only assume will be known as The Last of Us 2.
He adds, “So, I guess he (North) was kind of right in that we were working on stuff, but we don’t know what we’re doing next and we won’t know until probably a few months after we finish Uncharted 4“.
So it appears that The Last of Us 2 is anything but a certainty at this point, and even if it does happen, it’s unclear whether we’d see the return of Joel and Ellie, or an entirely new set of characters in the universe.
“My main issue with having Joel and Ellie in The Last of Us 2 is that a continuation of their story would disrupt the balance of the first game”, Movie Pilot reported.
The chase and combat sequence that was presented during E3 2015 was truly impressive and shows how the creativity of Naughty Dog can be combined with the power of the PlayStation 4 to deliver cool results.
