Warning: This post contains spoilers from both the Game of Thrones TV show and George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series.
With the Game of Thrones TV series now having surpassed George R.R. Martin’s source material, it would be no surprise to learn the author had made a decision to hold back some key details to keep fans’ appetites whetted for his upcoming books (whenever they may be released).
Kimmel filled fans in on the most recent mishap on the show which happened to be Hodor being left behind to “hold the door” so that Bran could escape the White Walkers.
Back at the cave, in the present, Hodor was still valiantly holding the door, and did so until the wights got to him. It’s incredibly distressing, and maybe that’s why on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” last night show executive producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss chose to issue an apology … sort of. And to be sure, the TV series wouldn’t have worked without that duo.
In the video embedded above, Benioff and Weiss did not express any remorse for the 739 main characters that have been killed off. But it was enjoyable to see them having some fun with it. But did Hodor know he was going to die on Game of Thrones? “I’m considering this open ended – because you never know in the insane world of ‘Game of Thrones'”.
Let’s be honest, we’re all kind of mad at Bran Stark right now.

“Game of Thrones” airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on HBO. They actually weren’t apologizing for killing Hodor, and instead were apologizing for how they have forever ruined the phrase “hold the door”. Not good? Yeah, I’m still a complete mess myself, far more than I was even after Ned was executed, or following the Red Wedding, or even when the Mountain squeezed Oberyn’s head like a ripe orange.
