As investigators went in and out of the property on Sunday morning, a dozen neighbours gathered at the yellow crime scene tape that cordoned off the entrance to the street, a tree-lined road about 15 miles north of downtown Houston with neat, modern houses.

The sergeant and three deputies forced their way in, and the 49-year-old male suspect inside began shooting, the sheriff’s office said.

Vilma Flores, 61, who lives next door to Jackson and Conley, said the home was troubled.

Conley has been charged with three counts of murder, with some of the counts covering multiple killings.

The victims’ ages ranged from 6 to 50 and included a woman, her husband and their six children, according to Cannon. Craig Clopton, the lead investigator for the Harris County Sheriff’s Workplace.

Valerie had two active Facebook pages, one listed as Valerie Conley, the other Valerie Jackson.

“We don’t – can’t – absolutely comprehend the motivation of a person that may take the lives of so many harmless individuals”. Eight people were found dead inside a home following the arrest of David Conley, who exchanged gunfire with police, Texas authorities said Sunday.

Court documents said Conley pushed Valerie Jackson’s head against a refrigerator multiple times after she tried to stop him from disciplining her son with a belt.

She said the dead included Conley’s son, Nathaniel Conley, 13, and the boy’s mother, Valerie Jackson.

Neighbors on Monday said they were aware of the family’s troubled history of domestic violence, with prior police visits and contact with Child Protective Services. He said Conley called him around 11 p.m. Saturday, hours after breaking into the home of his ex, Valerie Jackson. All of the victims – including the children – had been restrained with metal handcuffs and shot in the back of the head.

Two teenagers accused of the fatal shooting of a 10-year-old boy in front of his Overtown home remained behind bars Sunday, and the victim’s grieving family said their arrests are the break in the almost five-month-old case they had been waiting for.

The bodies of eight people were found in the home, Gilliland said.

Jaelen, a teen who said he was friends with Nathaniel, told KHOU that the boy suffered child abuse at the hands of Conley.

Conley, 48, who has a violent criminal history, made his first court appearance Monday.

He is being held in the Harris County Jail without bail. In one incident, Conley was sentenced to five years in prison after he threatened to kill Jackson and her child by wrapping a cord around the baby’s neck.
