The Latest on Bangkok: Broken security cameras hinder probe
Hok Chun Anthony Kwan, who was assigned by Initium Media Technology to cover the aftermath of last week’s bombing in central Bangkok left 20 people dead and more than 120 injured, was stopped at the Thai capital’s global airport on Sunday as he was boarding a flight to Hong Kong.

A student who posted a bomb threat on Facebook was arrested in Ayutthaya on Saturday and charged with a computer crime that is punishable by up to five years in jail and a fine of $2,800, Suvaree said. Bullet proof jackets are considered military equipment in Thailand, whose laws prohibit their possession without a license.
“In terms of the CCTV cameras, some don’t capture images properly and some were damaged which is a waste of time for police piecing together where the suspect went”, national police chief Somyot Poompanmuang told reporters.
“It was left in the house of a construction worker”, he said.
Six days after a deadly bomb killed at least 20 people in Bangkok, police said yesterday their prime suspect in the attack may have successfully fled the country.
Some, from the Erawan shrine, shows the suspected bomber slipping off a backpack and walking away.
Police said on today the trail had gone cold in the hunt for a bomber in Thailand’s worst ever bomb attack, and they were unsure if the chief suspect was still in the country.
The government has been trying to reassure tourists and foreign governments, and plain clothes police have fanned out across Bangkok, said police spokesman Prawut Thawornsiri.
Colonel Winthai Suvaree, a spokesman for Thailand’s ruling junta, also said that closed circuit television showing the main bombing suspect was used to trace the route he took to and from the site of Monday evening’s rush-hour attack. But after that there was very little, police said. “But we will keep searching in case we can find others who may be in the country or find clues, evidence and witnesses who may have seen him”.
