The Latest on Houston shooting: Neighbors heard shots, hid
The active male shooter is said to be carrying a rifle and wearing no shirt and dark shorts, the Houston Chronicle reports.

One person was killed and five others, including two police officers, were wounded in Houston Sunday after two men opened fire with what officials said were high powered weapons.
The Houston Police Department said in a Facebook post that an active shooter situation was still in effect and advised area residents to shelter in place or to stay away. There is also a second suspect who was wounded and is now in hospital, but his condition is not known at this time.
A sheriff’s deputy in Georgia is “doing much better” but may lose his left eye after he was shot in the face during a traffic stop south of Atlanta, authorities said. The second officer was shot in the hand.
Hunt says both officers hurt during the neighborhood shootings Sunday should be OK. Three other victims were hospitalized.
Stephen Dittoe, who lives in the house right behind the shooting scene, says he thought it was a transformer.
