An analyst with investment banking firm Needham & Company, Laura Martin explained how Apple is expected to receive approximately $3 billion in the next 12 to 24 months through in-app purchases made by iPhone users.

The phenomenon that is Pokémon Go has broken Apple’s App Store record, with the most downloads ever in its first week of release, reports Tech Crunch.

Pokemon Go, the augmented reality game from Japan’s Nintendo Co Ltd, can be downloaded for free but iPhone users can use PokeCoins to buy additional features.

Pokemon Go is no doubt the next big thing to hit the internet, and it has got millions of people hooked.

In fact, some estimates say that Apple will make more money from Pokemon Go than Nintendo.

The game, which has been rolled out in 35 countries, is also available on Android devices. Candy Crush, eat your heart out.

Electronics retailers have also seen a bump in sales of mobile chargers and charging cases since the launch of the game.

According to the folks at 7Park Data, Pokemon GO gamers spent an average of 75 minutes per day in the app during the first week of the game’s launch. Nintendo’s stock has almost doubled.
