The new ‘Ghostbusters’ movie has been denied a release in China

Once I saw the teaser trailer my heart sank. We even get bits about flatulence (of course there has to be jokes about flatulence).

“I wanted to let that come out in this character”. The original 1984 “Ghostbusters” did not have a theatrical release in China.

Industry insiders are viewing this as a major blow for the reboot starring Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon because it needs to perform well overseas to recoup its sizeable production budget.

Erin Gilbert (Kristin Wiig) is a stuffy professor at Columbia University hoping for tenure.

Authors Erin Gilbert (Wiig) and Abby Yates (McCarthy) join forces with nuclear engineer Jillian Holtzmann (McKinnon) and subway worker Patty Tolan (Jones) to create a team that combats the steady stream of specters taking over NY.

I was pleasantly surprised by Ghostbusters. There are scenes throughout the length of the credits and a scene after, so definitely stay the whole time.

Now if you really want to rip apart this film, you could say that it lacks substance and depth. The new weapons were also a nice touch and no matter how unusual some of them looked each one had a objective and none of them went to waste.

Still, sloppiness doesn’t matter as much if the new Ghostbusters can haunt even a little, and it does.

Today an all-new Ghostbusters adventure hits theaters, adding a new team to the comedy franchise.

You would have thought they had just announced the end of the world. It is not the best film in the series but this Ghostbusters has plenty of things for all ages to like.

Its bold – and in the eyes of many vocal internet fans’ eyes, unforgivable – move was to cast four women in the lead roles.

Ghostbusters has earned 6.5/10. I did hear from someone who had seen it in 3D that it was worth it. This is a great movie you need to take your family to see this weekend.

Reboots are rarely good ideas, but this one is helped greatly by making its main cast all women – at least it feels like an attempt to cut a new path, instead of appeasing nostalgia crybabies out for blood.

The country has a history of not allowing movies involving the supernatural from being seen there.
