The release date for the next chapter “God of War” will likely be set on 2017, for game developer Santa Monica Studios, had a massive job opening to strengthen their workforce and hasten job completion, according to FragHero.

The game features an older, bearded Kratos as he teaches his son how to become a God. To report spam or abuse, click the “X” in the upper right corner of the comment box. We know the new character is the son of our protagonist, but what is his importance? This could be connected to the new beginning that “Kratos” was referring to at the end of the trailer; meaning that it is less of a sequel and more of a new story with a new setting altogether.

Other titles that were displayed at the Sony E3 2016 press conference include “Call of Duty: Modern WarfareRemastered“, “Batman VR”, “The Last Guardian“, which releases on October 25, and “God of War”. Kratos is in the game and he’s joined by his son. The gameplay footage shows an aged Kratos mentoring a young man as they hunt a sizable deer.

As for the gameplay, the video showed some role-playing game (RPG) and hunting elements which indicate that Sony Santa Monica might be mixing things up for this one.

If waiting for an unknown God of War release date to get here is too much for you to handle, the good news is that you can go ahead and already pre-order your copy of God of War on PS4 on Amazon for .99.

Word comes by way of PlayStation Blog, where Cory Barlog recounted the early days of development on God of War, and why this new entry in the action-adventure series is considered a soft reboot in the gameplay department, as opposed to a narrative overhaul.

Sony rounded off this years E3 conferences with a bang showing off an awesome mixture of new IP’s, returning franchises and a genuine surprise or two. Despite being merely branded as “God of War”, this game seems to be continuing to follow the exploits of Kratos. We also see skill specific experience being gained, and what looks like a very compelling story in “God Of War”.

In a lot of ways, God of War is sounding like The Legend of Zelda.
