The new version of bubble wrap will disappoint everyone’s inner child
For over 58 years, the Bubble Wrap has given us huge pleasure and joy but the days of popping are coming to an end.

Sealed Air Corp., the seller of Bubble Wrap since 1960, is redesigning their packaging to appeal to manufacturing companies, according to The Wall Street Journal.
The new and (not at all) improved iBubble Wrap is sold flat then inflated by the companies that use it for shipping. The new wrap does not have individual pockets of air-the bubbles are all interconnected, which allows them to be inflated in much the same way as one would inflate a pool float. Part of the problem is that bubble wrap is too large and bulky to ship long distances.
One benefit the company sees with iBubble Wrap is that it will cost less to ship to customers because it takes up less room.
Felling sad? You’re not alone, many Bubble Wrap fans around the world have shared their sadness on Twitter.
More recently Bubble wrap has become used as a form of stress-relief. Now, Sealed Air has come up with a version that “eliminates the freight burden”, a rep says.
Bubble Wrap was originally created in 1957 by the co-founders of the Sealed Air who were looking for a new kind of wallpaper.
While we’re sure some boring people (okay commercial online shipping folk) might appreciate the new invention, we’ll never give up hope for our favourite childhood toy.

Sealed Air quelled pop-lovers’ concerns, tweeting that it will continue to make the traditional version.
