It’s not secret anymore that Google engineers are working on the next version of Glass; but what we’re likely to see next is called “Google Glass Enterprise Edition”.

Soon after Google stopped the sale of its Glass Explorer Edition, the chatter online suggested the possibility of an upcoming ‘Enterprise Edition’. We learn that the EE model of the glass is very rugged, water resistant and yeah – foldable! This new “feature” would be in stark contrast to the Explorer edition of Glass, which was designed to be one, whole, unified band. “It has been tweaked, though, and there are at least a few differences noticeable from the outside”, the report adds.
For those that are excited by the promise of what Google Glass Enterprise Edition means for consumers, don’t get too riled up yet.
Unless Google plans to remove the touchpad on the side of Google Glass, which is used for navigation and can be tapped like a button, there aren’t many buttons to remove in the first place. Not surprisingly, the internals are also reportedly getting an upgrade, including a larger prism display, a faster processor, “moderately improved battery life” and improved wireless connectivity. Apparently, individual units of the device may end up never seeing a retail release, with Google only selling the device though a Glass for Work program. It had 802.11ac Wireless capabilities on both 2.4 and 5 GHz frequencies; making it suitable for use at workplaces.
