The NFL returned to Los Angeles and it was awesome

Soaring temperatures contributed to at least 158 heat-related medical calls at the Los Angeles Rams-Seattle Seahawks game at the Memorial Coliseum, authorities said. The offense slightly improved upon their first week shutout, but Aaron Donald and the Rams defense stole the show and lived up to much of the hype that surrounded them coming into the season.

“All week long we talked about this being a must-game”, said Rams cornerback Trumaine Johnson.

They pledged to each other they wouldn’t lose, then figured out a way to make good on their promise.

“It feels good, It feels really good to bounce back”, Keenum said. I think anytime you encounter some adversity, we knew what we needed to fix something – just like I told you guys last week. Quarterback Case Keenum made sure to take it all in as he made his way out of the tunnel and onto the field.

“I was just saying, let’s go, forget about everything that happened”, he said. “So I think that would have helped us out a little bit at times today as well”. “Remember past year how much we talked about third down, and you saw third down shift and you saw everything change”, Carroll said. It was not a pretty game, but it definitely had a “Hollywood ending” and a win is all that matters.

The Rams behind a strong showing from their defense squeezed by the Seahawks for their first home win since relocating back to Los Angeles.

The run game is spotty at best, Seattle’s offensive line has struggled against two of the better defensive fronts in the National Football League and while Wilson’s been able to throw successfully, he’s not much of a running threat because of his injured ankle suffered in the opener. “But when it’s said and done, we take the win”.

The offense needs to get healthy, and it needs to find some answers. That put the game firmly in the hands of Wilson, who was playing with an ankle sprain that limited his ability to move. It was so similar and our starts were way backed up, we’re not doing enough with them and we’re not getting the field position shifts, whether it’s by defense or kicking game, to get what you want. “I just saw him (Russell Wilson) check it down, I just ran it down”.

Hobbling quarterback Russell Wilson passed for 254 yards, but the Seahawks reached the red zone once all day. Kenny Britt, Lance Kendricks, and Tavon Austin each averaged over 10 yards a catch and had a reception over 25 yards. “We took helmets off our guys, and we didn’t practice in helmets the entire OTAs and learned a lot about how to do that, had a really good offseason, no issues at all, and we practiced eight or nine weeks past year without helmets on because we had learned how to do that well”. “We just have to get him some more touches”, Fisher said.

The Rams are not expected to set the league alight with the quality of their play, having posted just four winning campaigns during their 21 years in St. Louis and a cumulative 64-127-1 record but Modesti is happy, for the moment, to look back.

But they realize that can’t possibly last. “We’ve kind of been through this with the league over the years, over six years’ time, and after the second time, we made some real big changes in what we did, two years ago”. He then sustained a high ankle sprain on the Wednesday before the team’s opener against the Miami Dolphins, forcing Seattle to adjust and put J’Marcus Webb at guard for the first two weeks of the season.
