The NFL should be terrified of the Carolina Panthers
Cam Newton: His career high for touchdown passes in a game before Sunday was three (seven times).

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton spent Monday night helping 900 hungry kids get a good Thanksgiving meal.
“I have labelled myself as a pocket passer with the ability to run”, Newton said.
In his fifth season in the National Football League since winning the Heisman Trophy at Auburn in 2010, Newton had never thrown more than three touchdowns in a game before Sunday, when he had four TD passes in the first half against Washington.
After the Panthers (10-0) continued on their merry way to home-field advantage in the NFC with a 44-16 victory, Carolina coach Ron Rivera praised McDermott for his aggressiveness coming out of halftime.
All of that matters little to tight end Greg Olsen. Last Thanksgiving, the Panthers were 3-8-1 and in third place in the most pathetic division in National Football League history – the 2014 NFC South. Since then, they haven’t lost a regular-season game, getting four to close that season and 10 more to start 2015.
“Between the fumbles and the picks, we had a couple short fields”, Olsen said. “They all count…whether you lose 44-16 or win [47] to 14 like we did last week”. “Don’t worry about the name…I’m just frustrated with it. We shouldn’t have to be punished for that…Every game, there have been calls after calls that should go in our favor but they go to them”. That surprises us sometime, but you know, it’s all about us playing off of each other, the momentum that we carry over into the game.
Newton finished his day with 21 completions on 34 attempts for 246 yards. Adrian Peterson rushed for just 45 yards on 13 carries.
NOTES: The Panthers have scored at least 27 points in eight straight games….
The Redskins have lost nine straight on the road.
After two slow games in his return from a hamstring injury that sidelined him for two months, Jackson broke out against the Panthers with five catches for 87 yards, 56 of which came on a touchdown reception in the first quarter.
The Panthers also only managed one yard on punt returns, despite Washington punting five times. According to NFL.com, Newton has completed less than 57 percent of his passes for 2,283 yards, 20 touchdowns, and nine interceptions.
His first touchdown, to running back Jonathan Stewart, came off a quick route after play-action drew in Washington’s linebackers.
Forty-year-old Matt Hasselbeck throwing a pair of touchdown passes in relief of Andrew Luck.
The Giants moved the ball at a methodical, yet very effective pace, while Cousins struggled to get anything going until the second half.
The Panthers are expected to activate defensive end Charles Johnson on Tuesday, giving them back a player they expected to be a starter at the beginning of the season. The Panthers lead 38-14 early in the second half and the suspenseful part of the game was over. We work our butt off too.
As the architect of a top-10 defense for an undefeated team, McDermott should be in the mix for head-coaching openings after the season.

NOTES: Roberts’ 99-yard kickoff for a touchdown was the first allowed by the Panthers in 100 games…. “The Panthers overwhelm teams with everything from pure wham power pulls to triple-option looks, powered by the fact that in the 6’5”, 245-pound Newton, they always have an extra rushing threat who can break tackles and make plays beyond the norm.
