Lowrie was traded from the Astros to the A’s once before in early 2013, so this is hardly uncharted territory for the eighth-year veteran.
No word yet on what the return to Houston for Lowrie will be. He previously spent two seasons with Oakland, posting a.271/.334/.405 line while slugging 21 homers in 290 games. When Lowrie returned, Rookie of the Year Carlos Correa had supplanted himself as the starter and the future of the Astros. 300 over March and April, before being injured in late April. That year, he hit 15 home runs (one off his career best the previous season in Houston) and drove in a career-high 75 runs. As a result, he’s slated to make $7.5 million next season before earning $6.5 million in 2017, per Spotrac.
