The company has previously said that the Rift could cost between $200-$400, and that it would be “at least $300”.

Oculus still hasn’t provided information on how much the headset will cost or specifics on when it will begin shipping units – other than sometime in the first quarter.

It follows news that a motion controller for the Rift, called Touch, would be delayed until the second quarter of 2016. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in a post on Wednesday that the Rift “is the product of years of cutting edge research and engineering”.

The Oculus Rift is one (small) step closer to your living room.

For anyone who pledged for a Rift development kit, Oculus VR is sending you a free Kickstarter Edition Oculus Rift.

The Rift is just one of three upscale consumer headsets that are set to launch this year, including HTC’s Vive and Sony’s PlayStation VR.

Oculus founder Palmer Luckey will also be conducting a Reddit AMA on Wednesday at 6 p.m. PT to answer questions about the release. It has an expected launch date of April 2016.

There is, however, two free games bundled in under the $600 price tag: Lucky’s Tale and CCP Games’ acclaimed dogfighting sim EVE: Valkyrie.

Luckey also said that Rift preorders won’t require any kind of payment, letting buyers cancel them up until they ship.
