The Pop Culture Case of the O.J. Simpson Trial

Kardashian was just a child at the time and was apparently not present.

“And then O.J. said ‘I’m gonna kill myself in this room.’ And I said, you can’t”. Don’t remember me as one of the negatives that might end up here.

O.J. was later convicted and sentenced to 33 years in a Nevada case involving the theft of his own sports memorabilia. OJ Simpson was acquitted of the two murders, but he was later found liable for the deaths in a civil trial.

OJ Simpson (pictured left in 1994) contemplated suicide in Kim Kardashian’s bedroom when she was just 14 years old, it has been claimed.

Kardashian Snr, the ex-husband of Kris Jenner, reportedly found Simpson sitting in “Kimmy’s” room, recording “a suicide tape”.

As you may recall, OJ had a team of superstar lawyers representing him at his murder trial back in 1995.

“Oh boy, I don’t know how I ended up here”, Simpson is heard saying on the recording obtained by Schiller. This is my daughter’s bedroom – my little girl Kim sleeps here.

Kardashian, quickly taking note of where Simpson was heading with that narrative, focused his efforts on talking Simpson off the ledge-and out of his daughter’s bedroom. “You know, a lot of it is a blur in terms of…I could remember feeling my heart like thumping so loudly that I thought it was going to pop out of my chest”, said Goldman.

According to an article in US Weekly, Kim and the Goldman family have been struggling with forgiving Simpson and members of the jury, who made their decision in only four hours. TMZ (via Harvey Levin, one of many reporters to cover the case) is a direct descendant of the trial – as is “CSI” and any crime lab-driven shows where DNA is the key acronym.

The verdict offered both surface resolution and a deep, gnawing emptiness to the climax of a case that can never be fully resolved – barring a confession from the murderer, or the “real killers”, as Simpson infamously put it.
