The Pretenders Join Dan Auerbach Of The Black Keys For New Album
The Pretenders just announced an October 21 release date for Alone, their first new studio album from the band since 2008’s Break Up the Concrete.

As a first listen to Alone, Hynde has shared the lead single “Holy Commotion!“.
Singer-songwriter Chrissie Hynde recorded the album in Nashville.
Chrissie, 64, recorded Alone with Dan Auerbach, from The Black Keys, who stood as captain, producer and multi-instrumentalist.
Hynde initially conceived Alone as a follow-up to her 2014 solo album, Stockholm, but after shaping several songs with Auerbach – a fellow Akron, Ohio native – the record revealed itself to be a Pretenders LP.
It had been meant to be a follow up to Hynde’s 2014 solo album Stockholm, but it was later decided that it would be a Pretenders release. Hynde commented on it in a press release: “We were in the studio hanging out, and the guys were talking about their families and their wives and I said, ‘Well, I do everything alone”. I go to restaurants alone. I can’t live without you.
The album will be released on October 21st via BMG. When am I going to see you again?

One song, album opener “Alone Song“, celebrates being on your own. Marry me and be with me for the rest of my life. “I don’t get real excited about vintage guitars and stuff, but I do if someone else is playing them that brilliantly”.
