The Queen arrives for 90th birthday celebrations

Queen Elizabeth’s 90th birthday has been celebrated quite a number of times in the last few weeks. Here’s hoping we’ll see more lovely moments like these! We can know with some certainty that a rather memorable spectacle awaits. The canoe has been shipped early to the United Kingdom at the behest of the pageant organisers in order to participate in the 90th Birthday Celebrations, before it is eventually displayed to the public atThe Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts at the University of East Anglia, Norwich, from 15 October 2016 to 12 February 2017.

Writing in the official programme, Prince Charles wished his mother “the happiest of very special birthdays”.

She was joined in the royal box by her husband Prince Philip, son Prince Charles, grandsons William and Harry, and the King of Bahrain, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

Kate is wearing a Zara coat. The Prince’s father was Queen Elizabeth’s third cousin. The show also featured archive footage telling the story of the Queen’s life, interspersed with live horse performances, and accompanied by music.

Gary Barlow kicked off the entertainment with a belting performance of the song Something About This Night.

A host of stars performed for the Queen at a special event to mark the monarch’s 90th birthday.

Kylie Minogue, tenor Andrea Bocelli, opera singer Katherine Jenkins and pop star Jess Glynne will also perform.

Her love of horses was represented by more than 900 of the animals in the celebration.

As she performed, Jean-Francois Pignon, introduced as the horse whisperer of France, enthralled the spectators with his command of a group of horses including a Shetland pony.

Other bands performing at the birthday events were New Zealand and Fiji’s army bands, the Royal Cavalry of Oman, the Band of the Irish Guards and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
