President Barack Obama dismissed as “ridiculous” Republican Donald Trump’s statement that he fears the November 8 election will be rigged against him.
Obama additionally suggested that Trump needed to start acting more presidential, if he wanted to continue receiving intelligence briefings as the presidential nominee of the Republican party. “We do take seriously, as we always do”, the president said, “our responsibilities to monitor and preserve the integrity of the voting process”.
“What I will say is that they have been told these are classified briefings”, he added, in response to a question about whether he was concerned about Trump obtaining the classified information. “That means being able to receive these briefings and not spread them around”.
On Tuesday, Obama employed the visuals of a foreign leader’s state visit at the White House to contend that Trump “doesn’t appear to have basic knowledge around critical issues in Europe, in the Middle East, in Asia”, meaning “he’s woefully unprepared to do this job”.
Obama compared Trump’s assertion to a sandbox or schoolyard squabble.
A Pew Research Center survey released Wednesday found that almost half of Hillary Clinton’s supporters (47%) say they have no close friends who back Donald Trump. “But I’ve never heard someone complain” before game is over.
