‘The Renevant’ wins three Golden Globes
Jon Hamm and Leonardo DiCaprio may have won big at the Golden Globes this year, but ratings for the award show were down.

“It is time that we heard your voice and protect this planet for future generations”, he ended. “This category is so crowded…and I feel more honored to be included than ever”.
Pioneer-era tale “The Revenant” won three awards including best drama film, beating out front-runners “Carol”, a lesbian romance, and investigative journalism drama “Spotlight“. The world will find out on February 28th.
Despite controversy over its nomination in the comedy category when the film didn’t have hard-hitting humor, its star Matt Damon also won best actor-comedy. They have become an homage to star power, politics and the ability to schmooze the navel gazing, semi-mysterious cabal called the Hollywood Press Association – a group of just 90 worldwide journalists who bestow the awards each year.
Data from social analytics platform Brandwatch shows that DiCaprio pipped fellow actors Lady Gaga and Sylvester Stallone to the post in terms of tweets, with his win acknowledged as the biggest moment of the award show. Upon accepting the globe for the film about a presumed dead astronaut who survives a mission to Mars, Scott said “Comedy?”
Instead, the Academy Award went to “Birdman”, directed by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, who is also behind “The Revenant”.
The 40-year-old star, who picked up the best supporting actress gong for her role in Danny Boyle’s film Steve Jobs, said she did not expect to win.
“I have made a lot of movies that people just didn’t go see”, Damon said, adding he was glad that people liked “The Martian”, whose boxoffice collections reached almost $600 million.
During his opening monologue this year, Gervais himself seemed surprised that he keeps getting invited back in spite of his behavior, at one point exclaiming after a dirty joke, “They asked me to host four times!”.
“I want to say something nice about Mel before he comes out so…” Gervais said that he’d much rather have a drink with Gibson than with Bill Cosby.
“I’ve never had an experience like this in my entire life”.
Hungary’s “Son of Saul” was awarded best foreign film while “The Hateful Eight” took the Globe for best score by Ennio Morricone and the best song Globe went to Sam Smith and Jimmy Napes for “Writing’s on the Wall”, from “Spectre”, the latest James Bond movie.

Tom Hanks also presented Denzel Washington the Cecil B. Demille award.
