The Republican Debate: How did the candidates fare?

The debate, hosted by Fox News, not only set a new record for a Republican primary debate, but had almost three times as many viewers as the last record holder. Trump also badgered Kelly at the end of his response, telling her that if she didn’t like his history with women, “I’m sorry”.

“You call women you don’t like fat pigs, dogs, slobs, and disgusting animals”, Kelly said.

Trump said he wouldn’t engage into a Kelly slug-fest and Twitter has his back about the “unfair treatment” from Kelly. “Megyn Kelly’s question to Trump re what he’s called women over the years was awesome!” “Our politicians are stupid”, Trump responded.

Erickson held his ground, though, replying that common decency is not the same as political correctness and noting that it “must be a pain in the ass not to be able to buy somebody“.

Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky did take on Mr Trump, confronting him after Mr Trump kicked off the debate by refusing to pledge his support for the Republican nominee in the November 2016 election.
