DiCaprio won the award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama for his role in the feature film Revenant, directed by Alejandro G. Inarritu who took the best director Globe.

The 73rd annual Golden Globes had a few curveballs up its sleeves, and the biggest ones weren’t even from acerbic host Ricky Gervais, who kept the show alive with his biting quips and takedowns of the business that the awards were celebrating. The night is split in two categories: Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical and Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama, which allows less competition. The film was a part of the 2015 edition of the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) line-up. The organization awarded the actor his third best actor Golden Globe Sunday (he previously won it for “The Aviator” and “The Wolf of Wall Street”), securing his position as the favorite to win his first (and long-overdue) Academy Award for “The Revenant”.
Matt Damon plays fictional NASA astronaut Mark Watney in “The Martian”, which won two Golden Globe awards.
In his career, Leonardo DiCaprio has been nominated for 10 Golden Globes and only walked away with the award three times, including his win for “The Revenant”.
The Supporting Actress Award was clinched by Kate Winslet for portraying the role of an assistant to Apple founder Steve Jobs in the film “Steve Jobs”. The movie earned awards in the Best Actor, Best Picture and Best Director categories.
“Spotlight”: The film was believed the be the front-runner in a relatively wide-open best picture race. Among network shows, “Empire” and “American Horror Story: Hotel“, which airs on Fox-owned FX, each won a Golden Globe.
The Lethal Weapon star had gone on stage to present the trailer of Mad Max, which was nominated for the Best Picture award.
Ricky Gervais returned to host the awards show for the fourth time.
This advantage has fared much better for the leading ladies – in the past 25 years, 88% of the GG winners for Best Actress later went on to win Oscars that same year! Robot.’ The Hollywood Foreign Press also honored Christian Slater for his portrayal of the title character in the Best Supporting Performance in a Series, Miniseries or Television Film – Supporting Actor category.
As for the acceptance speech, Marlowe said she’s waiting to see what DiCaprio will do next with his words.

Its leading man also had a starring role on Twitter after being caught pulling a face when he was bumped into by Lady Gaga as she went to collect a prize.
