“The Revenant” wins three Golden Globes
In film category, there were other surprises such as the victory of Brie Larson who won Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Drama, for her performance in a film called Room ahead of Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara with the former being a favourite for the film, Carol. The film was a part of the 2015 edition of the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) line-up. The Best Actress in a comedy victor does not always translate to the Oscars and Lawrence does not seem to have the same buzz she had for her last two award winning performances. The series won the award for Best TV Series- Comedy or Musical, and Mozart’s star Gael Garcia Bernal won the award for Best Actor in a TV Series- Comedy or Musical.

British comedian Ricky Gervais was the host of the 73rd annual Golden Globes Awards in Los Angeles. “Revenant” star Leonardo DiCaprio won best drama actor and Alejandro Inarritu was named best director.
That does not mean “The Revenant” or “The Martian” will not win best picture, because one of them really might. While it is considered a lock for a Best Picture nomination on Thursday, the film apparently did not win the favor of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and received no awards on Sunday. “What a terrific year in film”.
Other notable spikes came when Sylvester Stallone won his first Golden Globe for his role in Creed and when Jennifer Lawrence won for Joy. “This category is so crowded…and I feel more honored to be included than ever”. In 2006 the Globes went for “Babel” instead of “The Departed” and in 2005 “Brokeback Mountain” won and the Oscar victor “Crash” was not even nominated.
The Golden Globes is considered a preview of the Academy Awards, Hollywood’s biggest night. “She’s amusing and hilarious and will win many things”.
Ultimately, not too much can be said to predict the outcome of the Oscars until the nominations are out and SAG distributes its awards. Lady Gaga shed tears as she won a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a made-fortelevision limited series or movie American Horror Story: Hotel.
Taraji P. Henson, a victor for best actress in a television drama.
“It is time we recognize your history and that we protect your indigenous lands from corporate interests and people that are out there to exploit them”, DiCaprio said in his acceptance speech.
