The Rubio economy: ‘The old ways no longer work’
With his Cuban-American background, youth and compelling biography, Rubio, 44, has long been viewed by campaign analysts as one candidate in the ever-growing field of 14 who could break out from the pack.

Both CSP and the Conservative Solutions super PAC are legally disconnected from Rubio’s 2016 presidential campaign, but are predominantly backed and managed by supporters of the Florida senator.
Rubio specifically addressed the Times’ story regarding feelings for him in Cuba, stating, “Number one, in Cuba if they [the people interviewed by the Times] would have said something positive bout me, they would have been punished for it by the government”.
“The race for the future will never be won by going backward”.
James Pethokoukis, a scholar at the right-leaning American Enterprise Institute, said Rubio deserved credit for trying to develop an agenda that goes beyond criticizing President Barack Obama and the leading Democratic contender, Hillary Clinton.
But, as with the other hit pieces on Rubio, there is another unintended benefit to Rubio. Hillary Clinton argues the economy is rigged in favor of wealthy interests – but what she won’t tell you is that big government is doing the rigging.

“We need to change how we provide degrees, how those degrees are accessed, how much that access costs, how those costs are paid, and even how those payments are determined”, he declared.
Rubio spoke of education and innovation reforms at 1871, an incubator for technology startups, and seemed to be doing his best to distinguish himself from an increasingly crowded field of GOP presidential hopefuls.
Rubio, like many Republicans in Congress, is firmly opposed to lifting the U.S.-Cuba embargo and easing trade and travel restrictions while oppression continues to exist on the island.
Another proposal was a Student Investment Plan, “Which would let students partner with investors who would pay their tuition in return for a percentage of their earnings for a few years after graduation”.

The venue underscored the theme of Rubio’s speech entitled “A New American Century”. Elsewhere in his remarks, Rubio called for cutting the corporate-tax rate to 25 percent and rewriting immigration laws to give priority to workers needed in the economy rather than to family reunification.
