The Salvation Army is feeding local families in need

The most recent donations were made to the Salvation Army’s red kettles in Raynham and Middleton.

Can’t make it to a kettle?

There will still be red kettles out next week and the last day the kettles will be out is Christmas Eve.

The Mahoning County Salvation Army is helping 2,200 children with Christmas toys and clothes.

Some of Detroit’s tallest buildings are turning red to help raise awareness of the final days of the fundraising campaign. So far, more than $120,000 has been donated through the bell ringing efforts. The kettles were taken from their office in Nampa after being brought back to the facility for the night last Thursday.

Hunger relief, veterans’ affairs services, homeless services, disaster relief, and community health programs are just a few of the ways that the Salvation Army helps those in need.

She says it is her first experience with the Angel Tree Program, a name she says is fitting.

While most of the spots to man the kettles have been filled, for those interested in volunteering are urged to call The Salvation Army at 403-823-2215 and get their name on the list.

The Salvation Army in the New River Valley is also behind.

The families signed up for this Christmas assistance in July, which also includes clothes.

Flathead Valley Salvation Army Major Steve Svenson says that a gold coin was donated on Friday at Smith’s Grocery Store in Columbia Falls.

The money helps fund programs such as an emergency shelter in Santa Ana, youth centers in Tustin and Anaheim, and those that assist families in need. This event showcases what the Red Kettle Campaign aims to provide year round to not only children but their parents as well: a little peace of mind and happiness.
